SAN FELIPE

The “Valle de Los Gigantes” nature reserve has cardoons standing up to 62 feet.
Jesuit missionary Juan de Fernando named the area San Felipe in 1746.
The Consag Island, a granitic outcrop was given its name in honor of Jesuit Missionary Fernando Consag, who mounted several exploration and detailed cartography expeditions of the area.
